To help ease the savage cold of Montreal’s climate, I – like many bikers- attended the Motorcycle show held at the Palais des Congres. There were many beautiful motorcycles to stare at, to help forget the winter blues, and to dream of warm summer days and twisting roads. if only for a couple of hours.

That hole is huge!
This summer I went to see KISS at the Bell Center. While waiting to go into the arena this beautiful Triumph Bonneville caught my eye. I really like the British flag theme on the gas tank. They really did a great job in bringing back the classic old school look of the bike.
I had the honor of taking a 1967 Pontiac GTO for a ride the other day. A very short ride but sweet nonetheless. The car is enormous but does not feel that way when driving. The steering is very soft and the 400 pulls. It’s fast! Very fast. You would not think this looking at it. The 4 speed shifts easily. The clutch is a stage 2 and is a bit heavy but it kicks! I was screeching the tires with every gear change. What a blast. The brakes have been converted to disks and the car stops very well which is reassuring given how well it accelerates. It’s going to be a long winter sigh…

Harley Davidson XR 1000 CarCrazyBiker
It was a beautiful warm Friday night. Perfect excuse to attend the local car meet in the parking lot in front of Golf Town in Lava,l in front of Montmorecy metro, that takes place every Friday night, weather permitting. Walking through the crowded parking lot brings me back to my youth, a time when these cars were our daily drivers, not collector cars. The Mustang Boss 302 was the car my father did not buy. Instead he went with the 69 Galaxy 500 with the 302. Having two children, he needed a bigger car. This was also the first car I drove. The 76 Camaro was my cousins father’s choice. He wanted the Vette but found it too small and expensive. I always remember how he would try to please us by hitting the gas to show us how fast the car was. The 75 Cadillac Eldorado with the red leather seats that my friend would borrow from his dad so we can cruise downtown. The 1970 Trans AM that was to be my first car, which I sold because I could not afford the repairs while attending university. The 1972 Riviera with the 455 that one of my school mates had. The list, and the stories, goes on and on. These were our cars. We bought and sold them never thinking that one day they would be priceless. Strolling through the parking lot the other night was like walking into the past. My past. And it felt really really good! Can’t wait till next Friday. See ya there!
Mustang Boss 302
Crescent Street Montreal is known as the place “You go to see and to be seen!” And in this chromed/silver Maserati Granturismo “seen” is an understatement. The car glowed as it reflected beams of light into the warm Montreal night. Passer-bys stopped to gaze. Many took pictures and others could not resist but pose next to the shiny sculpture.

Chrysler really did a fantastic job in reincarnating the Challenger. The car has beautiful lines that seem like a natural progression of the old classic. Seeing it brings me back to the 70’s when these muscle cars ruled the streets and when cars did not all look the same. Driving it is smooth and powerful. The old cars that I drove did not handle like this. In the old days cars swayed, bounced and fishtailed. They creaked and cracked when going over bumps. Braking was awful. But this car is all about comfort. The leather seats were incredible. The dash is a pleasure to look at. The car is equipped with power everything. A real treat to drive. But tap the throttle, and yes I did!- and the car changes character in an instant. It launches so quickly you think you are in a rocket ship. Powered by a 5.7-liter Hemi V-8 it produces 372 hp and 400 lb-ft of torque that just slams you into the seats. 5.6 sec 0-100km without even trying. What a great feeling. I can do this all day long.
2012 Dodge Challenger RT CarCrazyBiker
I want to thank my good buddy Frank, the proud owner of this work of art, for allowing me to drive it, and for showing me what it is capable of.
1963 Corvette. 327 under the hood that growls! The car is a resto mod. That being said it is not a numbers matching vehicle. The side pipes and hood scoop are from 67. The car does have 4 disc brakes, which may not be period correct but stop the car very well. When a stop sign is hidden behind the trees, it’s good to know that the car will stop rather than go through the intersection! The car is very fast and having stopping power to match is very comforting. The car rides on low profile BFGoodrich g-Force super sport tires which enhances the handling.
Driving a car from 63 is exhilarating yet because of its age there is always something that needs attention. For example the car’s dome light stayed on and drained the battery. Is that a faulty wire in the ignition, or a light switch that needs to be changed? It is not too fun when the car does not start! So it is off to the mechanic to check this and a few other little problems.

Every year Montreal plays host to the Grand Prix. And every year one thing is guaranteed: there will be one hell of a party! This year was no different. Even though the weather did not cooperate, the party happened regardless. I had the opportunity to attend some of the festivities that were happening on Crescent street, which was closed to traffic from St.Catherine street all the way up to Sherbrooke. I was there Friday evening and Crescent street was jammed! Queen Flash, a tribute to Queen, were performing and had everyone singing and dancing all evening.
Dodge Chrysler had some gorgeous vehicles on display. I have a particular fondness for the Viper and the new Challenger. The Challenger brings me back to the early 70’s when muscle cars roamed the earth and as an impressionable youth I wanted one so bad!

Queen Flash performed during the Crescent street Grand Prix festival in Montreal June 7 2013.
The band really sounds good live.Very tight. I was very impressed at how well they performed Queen’s biggest hits. The fact is that Queen songs are hard to reproduce. They played really well and looked like they were having a blast doing it. Their enthusiasm was contagious and the audience sang along on every song. A great time was had by all.
The turnout was very high even though the weather did not cooperate- it was cold and drizzling all night, yet all stayed to the end! Proof as to how good they were.
