Once again I had the pleasure to attend the Bike and Tattoo Show. As every year it is truly enjoyable and promises a good time. This year the show seemed more crowded. I believe it is gaining popularity as the years go by. There were some changes this year. The tattoo section was on the east arena and the bikes on the west side. It made things less crowded. The only downfall to this is that there is no more car section. The cars were scattered between the bikes. As a car guy I was a little disappointed but it is a bike and tattoo show, not a car show. I went on Saturday and got to see three great bands. Steve Hill started the evening with an incredible performance. He was followed by Eagle Tears. Close your eyes and you will swear that it’s 1970. A really great rock band that is really tight. The show closed with a tribute to Led Zeppelin who did an amazing job at sounding just like Zep. All in all it was a great show!!

Some video footage from the Show!

As every year this show pretty much signals the beginning of bike season in Quebec. As other years the venue was filled to capacity and everyone seemed to have a great time. There is something magical that connects cars, bikes, tattoos, music and girls.  Bring these elements together and you are guaranteed a great time. A place to be for both voyeurs and exhibitionists to do, well, what they do.
I attended both Friday and Saturday evening. There is just far too much going on to take it all in in one night. I have to admit that I had a great time! However I took  far too many pics and videos lol. And going through it and posting it has been quite the job. A fun job yes, but it takes hours to go through all the footage.  To make it a little easier on both the viewer and myself, I have split up the pics in sections. The show itself had the bike section, the tattoo section, the hot rod (rat rod) and rockabilly section. I will be adding more pics in the future but for now here are some of my favorites.

“The End”

To help ease the savage cold of Montreal’s climate, I – like many bikers- attended the Motorcycle show held at the Palais des Congres. There were many beautiful motorcycles to stare at, to help forget the winter blues, and to dream of warm summer days and twisting roads. if only for a couple of hours.

It is Grand Prix weekend and the weather in Montreal just sucks! It is cold and rainy. Regardless, it is time to enjoy the many festivities and hopefully take some pictures of the many exotic cars that will be present in our city. On a personal level it reminded me that I had not posted any of my pics from the classic Bike and Tattoo show. The show does have many cars on display alongside the many motorcycles and this being Grand Prix weekend it’s a perfect opportunity to post my pics.

The Classic bike and Tattooshow as usual, was a great success. Turnout was high and everyone was in a party mood. There were many vehicles to lust over as well as the occasionnal babe. Over the next couple of days, I hope to post more of my pics. One piece of advice that I would like to share is always make sure to have room on your camera’s memory card if you intend to attend a show and take pictures. It is not much fun when the memory card is full! I just needed to share that.

In Quebec, April typically marks the start of motorcycle season. For many years now, what signals the beginning of bike season for me has been an event held in Laval at the end of April called the Classic bike and tattoo show! Every year I anxiously look forward to this show. It combines bikes, hot rods, tattoos and music. There is no better combination, they just go together. They always have and they always will! That’s just the way it is! And this is why this is a great fun show.   The entrance parking lot of the venue is reserved for bikes (weather permitting) so arriving there you are greeted by a sea of bikes. Already a welcoming sight. Once inside, you find a tattoo section, a custom bike section  and a hot rod section. Music is the back beat of the show. A DJ plays non stop everything from metal, classic rock, to rock and roll and rockabilly. You hear classics from Black Sabbath, AC/DC, Judist Priest, Metalica, Motley Crue, Iron Maiden, Zep, Deep Purple, Skynard, Stones, Elvis, Bill Haley, Brien Setzer and many more.  Notice how it’s always the heavier rebel/bad boy music that goes so well with V twins or V8s regardless from which era it is taken from.  No Justin Bieber here.

There is just so much going on that you have to go multiple times if you want to see everything. There are over 50 tattoo artists and tattoo competitions;  live bands, air brushing, body painting, and body piercing. There is a Harley Davidson dealer, bike parts and accessories and clothing. The now traditional sexy fashion show and let’s not forget alcohol. This year they have a live band tribute to metalica: Alcoholica and two rockabilly live bands: Straightpipes and Devil’s Hot Rod. Two more live bands on the second night: Texarillo and Mad Army. For more details check out there program: Classic Bike and Tattoo Show 2013.  I know that I’ll be there, taking some pics! One last thing. I will be adding more pics to this gallery between now and show time which is on April 19-20-21.

The great pleasure in riding a bike is the openess. You are part of the surroundings. You feel it. You smell it. It is absolutely liberating. On one such ride I was returning  from Lake Champlain and had to stop at a railroad crossing. Expecting it to take a while, I pulled over and took advantage of the opportunity to photograph this picturesque old barn that was just by the side of the road. Isn’t this what riding is all about?!
